After having more time to read and explore more about the iTunes U announcement, I was interested in revisiting this topic. I see many positive potentials for adopting the iTunes U software, but a balanced view is always important as Universities begin to explore implementing any new technology. Although there has been some interesting talkback regarding his blog on this subject, I found that Jon Udell’s InfoWorld weblog Opening up iTunes U had some good point and counter-point arguments. Speaking as an instructional technologist with a social informatics background, it is so important to see all angles before implementing a new technology. The upside is always so easy to see, it is the unintended consequences that should be carefully considered.
Another weblog by Jon Udell is here: http://weblog.infoworld.com/udell/2006/02/22.html. This one responds to comments from his earlier blog post.
